We are thrilled that the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth (CSFN), the original sponsoring Congregation of the Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics (TMFHC health system), has joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston and the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio as a third co-sponsor of CHRISTUS Health as of May 1, 2016. From its beginnings, the two Founding Congregations of CHRISTUS Health envisioned this possibility of additional co-sponsors, and therefore made provisions for it in the bylaws.
The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth is an international congregation founded in Rome in 1875 by Frances Siedliska, a Polish noblewoman. Their lives are modeled on the Holy Family of Nazareth with the mission to spread the Kingdom of God’s love among themselves and then to promote it among others, especially among families, ultimately celebrating the oneness of the human family. Their Sisters minister in 13 countries and 5 continents. Their Central Offices of the U.S. province are in Des Plaines, Illinois.
This coming together is wonderful news as it will strengthen Catholic health care in East Texas. Bishop Strickland of Tyler, Texas is very excited about this new arrangement. Specifically, CHRISTUS Health and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System will work together to further a shared ministry to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by expanding access to care to the 27-county area of Northeast Texas through the creation of a new or enhanced health care services throughout the area. As such, it will comprise the new CHRISTUS Health Northeast Texas region.
