The Houston Children’s Chorus and the Holy Family Singers under the direction of Stephen Roddy, Founder and Director of the Houston Children’s Chorus, dedicated a concert at St. Mary’s Basilica, Galveston on Friday, June 16, 2017, to the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word on the occasion of its sesquicentennial anniversary. It was also dedicated in appreciation for the Franciscans for their ministry in Holy Family Parish for 37 years in Galveston. Among the selection of hymns, the children sang Queen of the Waves.

Sr. Mary Patricia Driscoll was invited to share the Congregation’s history and presence in Galveston. She highlighted the following:

• St. Mary’s Hospital – 129 years of CCVI service.
• St. Mary’s Orphanage – 100 years of CCVI service.
• School of Nursing – 71 years of CCVI service.
• Our Daily Bread – our current ministry for the homeless for the last 31 years.

Sisters Antoninus Martin and Rachel O’Keeffe also attended this very inspiring concert. A number of people spoke with them after the program and shared their fond memories of the Sisters’ presence in Galveston and their compassionate service over the years.
