On Saturday, September 9, 2017, Sisters Ricca Dimalibot and Pauline Troncale volunteered to assist immigrants to begin their
application process for U.S. Citizenship. This event took place in Southwest Houston at the Arab American Cultural and Community Center. It was sponsored by the St. Frances Cabrini Center for Immigrant Legal Assistance, a department of Catholic
Charities, and of the Muslim Bar Association of Houston.

There was a one-hour training for volunteers and attorneys before the workshop began. One of the other volunteers shared that she regularly makes days of prayer at the Ruah Spirituality Center at Villa de Matel.

Sisters Ricca and Pauline personally worked one-on-one with fellow Houstonians from Mexico, Egypt and the People’s Republic of Congo. These individuals came very well prepared with the necessary documents and information needed to start their process. It was a very touching and heart-warming experience. Sr. Ricca was especially impressed by the experience of speaking with a man from the Congo who had worked at eight different jobs during his time here to support his wife and three children. Sr. Pauline worked with a woman from Egypt who is the manager of the Arab American Cultural Center. Both Sisters hope that they will have another opportunity to work with Catholic Charities and the wonderful Legal Team assisting new-comers to our country.
