Les Cave Honored for 15 Years of Service

On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, Sister Kevina, along with the Leadership Team and the Sisters at Villa de Matel honored Mr. Les Cave, with a farewell lunch. After 15 years, Les will be leaving the CHRISTUS Health System to become the new President/CEO of Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM), effective mid-September. Sister Kevina spoke of his multiple contributions over the years and Sr. Ricca explained how the services at CHRISTUS Point of Light Clinic have expanded under his leadership.

Les began his career in philanthropy when he worked at the Presbyterian Medical Mission Fund where he raised funds for medical care in developing countries. From there, he worked with Private Sector Initiatives (PSI), Rice University, and was the Executive Director / Campaigns and Major Gifts Director at UT Health Science Center. After many years of success, he was asked to serve as the President of the CHRISTUS Foundation for Healthcare in 2003. In 2010, he became the organization’s Director of System Philanthropy.

Northwest Assistance Ministries is a non-profit, community-based social service agency that strives to meet basic human needs through Neighbors Helping Neighbors. NAM provides assistance in areas such as food, shelter, health, education and domestic violence awareness and intervention. During its last fiscal year, NAM touched the lives of more than 129,000 people through its many programs and services.

Les will begin his work with NAM during a period of tremendous growth and program expansion for the organization. In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, the organization served more than 129,898 individuals as well as the creation of NAM’s Disaster Relief program, the expansion of its Meals on Wheels service area, and the opening of The Harrell Family Opportunity Center, which allowed NAM to grow its vocational programs.

Les Cave will be missed as well as the great work and programs that he aided in establishing during his tenure with CHRISTUS Foundation for Healthcare. We wish Les much success in his continued service to the Houston Community and its residents. Praised be the Incarnate Word.
