Seeking to put their environmental education to work for the common good, students from one of Houston’s finest Montessori programs, St. Catherine’s, hosted “From Knowing to Acting” on Friday, May 3rd, with a mission to “help create a sustainable future for Houston by educating our community about solutions to climate change and empowering people to take action in their personal lives.”

The symposium was an entirely student-planned event at the private Catholic institution and was funded by a grant from the National Wildlife Federation, which the students also applied for themselves. It brought together some of the city’s most engaged environmental professionals and activists.

Students also presented their own environmental projects. Principal Susan Tracy and Kathy Hijazi, a facilitator, have ties to our Congregation and recently attended the Called to Conversion, Laudato Sí’ & Catholic Ecological Awakening event held at the Villa on March 16. We are thrilled about their symposium and encourage everyone to continue to support the students and their efforts!
