From the Facebook Page of CHRISTUS Health:

“As #NationalCatholicSistersWeeks is March 8-14, I wish to take this opportunity to highlight the service of the many Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (Houston) who established and served at CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System since the opening of the original Michael Meagher Memorial Hospital in September 1916 – over 100 years ago. Texarkana and surrounding areas have always had a cherished and special place in our hearts and remain to this day. However, it goes without saying, we, the Sisters could never carry on the mission just by ourselves.

Today I thank and honor all those who have contributed to this ministry of healing, love, compassion, mercy and generosity throughout these many years. This past year that has carried so much sacrifice, dedication to commitment and love of neighbor on the part of every Associate and stands as a witness to the Mission and Values of CHRISTUS St. Michael. So as we remember Catholic Sisters Week, I celebrate our wonderful Associates who give themselves every single day, thank them for being who they are and ask our faithful God to continue to bless them, their families and their patients.
