Harvest Mass Celebrates Creation On Nov. 23, members of the Laudato Si' Movement Texas, including representatives from our Congregation, joined the annual Harvest Mass in Weimar, TX, hosted by the Diocese of Victoria and Catholic Rural Life. Together, we gave thanks for the bountiful harvest and our shared call to care for creation—on farms, in gardens, or even tending plants on a windowsill. Bishop Brendan Cahill presided over the beautiful celebration, which took place at a vineyard.
Archdiocese launches Ecological Concerns Committee with CCVI involvement Since 2022, Sr. Ricca Dimalibot, CCVI and CCVI Social Concerns & Communications director, Monica Hatcher, have worked with an informal team convened by Sr. Maureen O’Connell, OP, Director of the Secretariat of Social Concerns for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, to coordinate Creation Care activities in Houston. To formalize our work together and solidify our role as a support team to the Archdiocese on environmental issues, in November, we adopted the name “Ecological Concerns Committee.” What’s in a name? Well, time will tell. So far, we have a very enthusiastic and committed core group of members consisting of parishioners, professional activists, and grass roots organizers from across Houston.
