Human trafficking involves deceiving, forcing or intimidating a person against their will to do work, provide services, or engage in activities like sex work against their will. It’s a form of modern slavery where traffickers use lies, threats, or violence to control victims and profit from their exploitation. It can happen to anyone, anywhere, and is illegal in all forms. Pope Francis says human trafficking turns people into objects to use and throw away. It is a severe affront on the dignity of the human person. Our Congregation has been committed to doing our part to eradicate human trafficking in all its forms by supporting frontline organizations that are working to prevent demand for trafficked persons, to serve survivors and to educate the public on how to identify trafficking and protect themselves and others from becoming victims. We also engage in our own networking and educational activities, sponsoring speakers and community trainings to equip our Sisters, employees and ministry partners about this great evil. We are members of local, national and international organizations that do awareness raising to help bring an end to this terrible crime. Ou network partners: Talitha Cum - Talitha Kum is the International Network of Consecrated Life Against Human Trafficking. Alliance to End Human Trafficking - Alliance to End Human Trafficking is a collaborative, faith-based national network that offers education, supports access to survivor services, and engages in advocacy in an effort to eradicate modern-day slavery. As a member of Talitha Kim International, we are connected to a global network of women religiously working to end human trafficking. United Against Human Trafficking Coalition - Made up of over 50 members, UAHT Coalition unites the local anti-trafficking movement, envisioning a collective end to human trafficking in Greater Houston, TX, and Lake Charles, LA.
