In response to the newly elected U.S. president's promises of raids and mass deportations of unauthorized immigrants, many nonprofits are providing “know your rights” workshops for individuals who may be undocumented or know someone who is. These sessions aim to educate attendees about the legal rights that protect them regardless of their immigration status. With over 11 million people potentially affected by policies aimed at deportation or other penalties, this information is vital. Justice for All Immigrants presented a Know Your Rights workshop on Dec. 5th for literacy students at St. Austin Center. The organization also provides free legal consultations for asylum seekers at the St. Austin Center.
