Vocation

GOD IS CALLING YOU

God calls each one of us to express his love in a unique way.

The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, Texas are called to be the healing love of the Incarnate Word among the sick, poor and refugees. We have a missionary, evangelizing spirit from our founder which constantly urges us to seek out the sick, the poor, and the deprived, and a sense of Church which embraces all of God’s people.

A Vocation is a Gift

This vocation is a gift from God, an invitation to follow Jesus more closely. As you discern your vocation, be open to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit and pray for guidance. We pray for you daily that you may know God’s Will and have the courage to respond to His invitation.  (*Note: This quote comes from the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church)

Mission

We respond to God’s mission, expressed in the words of Bishop Dubuis,

“Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffering in the persons of a multitude of sick and infirm of every kind, seeks relief at your hands.”

During the last one hundred and fifty years many generous women have answered this call, interpreting it according to the needs of their time.

Ministry

The call to holiness is rooted in the baptism of each Christian. Today some women choose to respond more deeply and dedicate their lives to following Jesus, poor, chaste and obedient, by vowed consecrated life in the church. Is God calling you to respond to this gift in your life?
